    1. Agreement to these terms

    These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website and services operated at wejerat.com and related subdomains (the "Service"), operated by or on behalf of Wejerat Archive ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

    We may update these Terms from time to time. We will indicate the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, except where applicable law requires your explicit consent.

    2. The Service

    Wejerat Archive is a public-facing platform focused on Wejerat’s culture, heritage, and history. The Service may allow users to browse published materials, create an account, post comments, and submit content for review. Content submitted by users may become publicly accessible after we review and approve it.

    We do not guarantee that any particular feature will always be available, that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that content will meet your expectations.

    3. Eligibility and accounts

    You must be able to form a binding contract under applicable law to use account features that require registration. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

    You agree to provide accurate registration information and to keep it current. You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity under your account. You must notify us promptly at legal@wejerat.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

    4. Membership, roles, and approvals

    Wejerat Archive is designed as a curated public archive. Some features are available only after registration and internal approval.

    • Members: by signing in, you may create a member account and use member features such as commenting (subject to moderation).
    • Contributors / publishers: submitting, writing, or publishing archive content may require an approved account role granted by our internal team through the dashboard account-upgrade process.
    • Review / editorial actions: reviewing or approving content is reserved for internal roles and workflows; users cannot self-approve their own submissions.

    5. User content and license to us

    You may submit or post content through the Service, including text, comments, profile information, images, or other materials ("User Content"), subject to your permissions and our review and publishing workflows.

    You retain ownership of your User Content. By submitting User Content, you grant Wejerat Archive a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, perform, distribute, and otherwise use your User Content solely as reasonably necessary to operate, improve, promote, and secure the Service - including making public-facing content available on wejerat.com and enabling ordinary web sharing (for example, link previews when URLs are shared on social media or messaging apps).

    You represent that you have all rights necessary to grant the above license and that your User Content does not violate law or third-party rights (including copyright, trademark, privacy, and publicity rights).

    6. Published content, requests, and permanence

    Because Wejerat Archive is an archive, published content is intended to remain publicly accessible as part of the historical record, subject to our moderation and legal obligations.

    • After your submission is reviewed and approved, it may be published publicly and may be indexed, shared, and referenced by others.
    • You may not delete, edit, or hide content that is already published unless you provide a concrete reason for the request. We will evaluate the reason and approve or deny the request through our internal process.
    • Even when changes are approved, we may retain records needed for security, integrity of the archive, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.

    7. Acceptable use

    You agree not to:

    • Publish false, misleading, or fabricated content, or attempt to claim, steal, distort, or misrepresent Wejerat community culture, history, or wisdom;
    • Use the Service in violation of applicable law or regulation;
    • Harass, threaten, defame, discriminate against, or incite violence or hatred toward any person or group;
    • Post or distribute malware, spam, unauthorized commercial messages, or deceptive content;
    • Attempt to access non-public systems, scrape the Service in a way that impairs it, or bypass access controls or rate limits;
    • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation, or impersonate another person or entity;
    • Collect personal information about other users without lawful basis and proper notice where required;
    • Use automated means in a way that is not permitted by us in writing, except as allowed by public search engines for indexing public pages in accordance with robots directives; or
    • Interfere with other users' enjoyment of the Service;
    • Attempt to publish, review, or approve archive content without the required account role and internal approval;
    • Submit content in a way intended to bypass the review workflow or mislead reviewers.

    8. Moderation, enforcement, and termination

    We may review submissions before publication. We may also refuse, remove, or restrict User Content or accounts that we reasonably believe violate these Terms, harm the community, or create legal or security risk. This may include actions taken by human moderators or automated tools.

    We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we determine is harmful or in breach of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including licenses you have granted where necessary to operate archival copies for a reasonable period, limitations of liability, and dispute terms) will survive.

    9. Intellectual property

    The Service and its original materials (excluding User Content), including branding, layout, selection and arrangement, and software, are owned by Wejerat Archive or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Except as expressly permitted in these Terms or by law, you may not copy, modify, or distribute our proprietary materials without prior written permission.

    10. Third-party services

    The Service may rely on or link to third-party services (for example, hosting, media delivery, or analytics). Those services are subject to their own terms and privacy notices. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

    11. Disclaimers

    THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE SECURE, FREE OF ERRORS, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS. HERITAGE AND COMMUNITY CONTENT MAY REFLECT AUTHOR OR CONTRIBUTOR VIEWS AND ARE NOT NECESSARILY ENDORSED BY WEJERAT ARCHIVE.

    12. Limitation of liability

    TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WEJERAT ARCHIVE AND ITS AFFILIATES, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND PARTNERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US (IF ANY) FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

    Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those jurisdictions, our liability will be limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

    13. Indemnification

    You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Wejerat Archive and its affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your User Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

    14. Governing law and disputes

    These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence apply. You and Wejerat Archive agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for disputes arising from these Terms or the Service, subject to any non-waivable rights you may have under applicable law.

    Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under laws that cannot be waived.

    15. General

    These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Wejerat Archive regarding the Service and supersede prior understandings on this subject. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

    For how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
