At the same time, displacement, recovery from conflict, and climate stress have made preservation urgent: heritage is not only celebration but a toolkit for cohesion and mental health. Partners inside and outside the region work with communities to safeguard sites, train guides, and record elders' testimonies.

The direction of travel is neither nostalgia nor wholesale modernization alone—it is selective, proud, and experimental: keeping what holds people together while opening space for new voices and new answers.
